Plasticircle – Improvement of the plastic packaging waste chain from a circular economy approach

Next June, 1th will start the project Plasticircle – Improvement of the plastic packaging waste chain from a circular economy approach, sponsored by the European community through the Horizon 2020 calls.

The project, in which Proplast is directly involved in both technical and dissemination activities, is concerned with the improvement of the urban recycling cycle of plastic and relates to the issue of circular economy, on which so much attention is being placed on these last years.

Within the project, all aspects of the industrial process of recycling will be faced. First of all, it will start from the real collection, where innovative solutions for containers and waste management logistics will be proposed.

It will also deal with the development of innovative processes for the separation of different plastics, finally to finalize formulations with added value added, with the involvement of industrial partners who are not using plastic recycled today because the products available on the market are not appropriate to their performance requirements.

Three European municipalities will be involved in the project, which will experiment with the various solutions developed by Valencia (Spain), Alba Julia (Romania) and Utrecht (Netherlands).

Proplast in the project will offer its support in formulation characterization and development, which is clearly where they can take advantage of their skills.

The project, coordinated by the ITENE (Valencia) technology center, will begin as mentioned in June and will end after four years in 2021, hopefully with great results that in this case will directly benefit the community.
